Open the family photo album, take a look at pictures taken around your
cabin, and tell us what comes to mind. Precious memories of good times spent
with family and friends? Or visions of dollar signs as you look forward to the
day you can sell out?
We thought so. Most cabin owners hate the thought of having to
sell.
Sharing a day hunting, fishing,
boating,
or hiking with
friends
or family
are core values
to
many Minnesotans.
Yet most legislators at the Capitol only see your seasonal property as just
another asset in your portfolio. And in Minnesota, seasonal property that gains
in value is taxed. Highly. And high taxes force many owners to sell, because
for most people tax increases outpace gains in income by a wide margin.
Sharing the experience of hunting, fishing, boating, or hiking with friends
or family are core values to many Minnesotans and the real
reason so many
families own recreational property. Its too bad that many legislators just
don't "get it."
We're share your core values
The Minnesota Seasonal Recreational Property Owners
(MSRPO) Coalition was created
in 1994 to
reverse unfair tax policies directed at seasonal property
owners.
We work hard to make sure state legislators, bureaucrats, and county boards
understand that your cabin or recreational property isn't just "investment
property." Its a place where family happens, a place where memories
that last a lifetime are created.
